Silicic magmas in the Michoacán-Guanajuato Volcanic Field: an overview about plumbing systems, crustal storage and genesis processes

چکیده
The origin of silicic rocks in the Michoacán-Guanajuato volcanic field (MGVF) has been understudied since attracted attention researchers. Using geochemical, petrological and structural data from literature, here we propose a model for magmas. We found that all known to date MGVF can be divided 40 % andesite, 33 basaltic 15 basalt, 2 trachybasalt trachyandesite, 10 dacite-rhyolite. systems deformed crust are NNW-SSE-oriented normal faults Taxco-San Miguel de Allende fault system, developed during Oligocene, Morelia-Acambay system consisting ENE-SSW E-W sinistral strike-slip Oligocene-Miocene. In addition bibliographic data, present gravimetric-magnetometric investigate characteristics local basement where magmas acquire their final composition, seismic tomography deep plumbing contribute form emplaced on surface. only report assimilation experiments literature suggest plagioclase pyroxene more easily digested than quartz by hotter digestion these mineral phases direct consequence generation dacites rhyolites. regardless genesis andesitic melts, such intermediate arrive upper-crust forced evolve within compression zones they melt granitic crystal mushes. compositional variability is variable mixing between partial melts.

Phase equilibrium constraints on the viscosity of silicic magmas 1. Volcanic-plutonic comparison
By using recently determined experimental phase equilibria we show that the viscosity of granitic magmas emplaced atupper crustal levels is approximately constant a -• 104.5 Pa s, irrespective of their temperature and level of emplacement. Magmas crystallizing as granitic plutons are not water-poor and thus not more viscous than their extrusive equivalents. Instead, comparison between pre-erupt...

متن کاملStudying Volcanic Plumbing Systems – Multidisciplinary Approaches to a Multifaceted Problem
Magma transport and storage beneath active volcanoes occurs in the so-called volcanic plumbing system (VPS), a network of different magmatic sheet intrusions and magma reservoirs. The complex physical and chemical processes, which occur in the volcanic plumbing system, are key parameters that control the occurrence of an eruption, as well as type and size of the eruption. It is therefore impera...
